Pool Chlorinator Mod (Save Yourself Some Money!)
Просмотров 16 тыс.3 года назад
This video shows you how to mod your Pool Frog chlorine container/cartridge so you can keep reusing the same container by refilling it with your own chlorine tablets. Just drill out a 2" hole in the bottom of your PoolFrog Chlorine Container and plug it with a 2" plastic locking panel plug. You can then buy your own chlorine tablets from wherever you want, and refill your container as needed. C...
Truetone 1Spot Pro CS6 & CS7 Pedalboard Rundowns

This is not a sound demo, just a walk-thru of my 3 pedal boards that I've recently upgraded with Truetone 1Spot Pro CS-6 and CS-7 power bricks. I plan to do 3 separate videos of me playing thru each pedal board in the near future, but for now, this is just a discussion around the Truetone power bricks, where they're mounted on my boards, and my pedals. These power supplies provide more than eno...
Fender Super Sonic 22 Tube Amp Bright Cap Mod & Tones
Просмотров 2,4 тыс.4 года назад
This video covers the bright cap mod for improving the tone when using overdrive pedals thru the clean channel of a Fender SS22 combo amp. There is a bright cap in the clean channel which makes it hard to get good overdriven tones with pedals thru the clean channel. Snipping the bright cap in the clean channel made a HUGE difference. My dirt pedals sound WAY better thru the clean channel now. G...

This video walks you through the steps of fixing the classic Toro rear wheel drive grinding noise. If you've changed the transmission and you're still hearing the grinding noise and the mower won't self propel, this fix could work for you and it's basically a no cost fix. Just the cost of a few washers.

Fender Super Sonic 22 - Overdrive Tones!!!

Welcome! Here's a demo of some of the great overdrive tones inside the SS22 combo amp. I used an Am Deluxe Strat straight into the amp - no effects were used. The speaker mic'd was a Celestion Vintage 30 in a closed back cab. I recorded the audio directly into my computer. This amp is great for blues and classic rock overdrive and distortion tones. Nice tight distortion for rhythm or lead. It's...

Not the greatest quality video. Gotta set up some mics and use my audio interface next time.
Thank you. I think my grinding noise and slight resistance might get solved by your video. Cheers!
Welp I tried it. Within two weeks my caps dissolved. Bummer
Fire time pool owner with this system. Can anyone confirm that this will work and will work with their test strips? Any recommendations on the tabs to use, such as a brand or link? Was stressing about on the price of the bac pacs and ran into this video!
Thank you so much! I think mine is fixed also! 7.25 190CC
Very informative. I see little activity recently but I am taking a shot asking for which ports you are using to split them so you can power many more than 7 pedals. I am guessing the 500 mA. Hopefully I can get an answer which would be for both CS6 and CS7. Thanks
Great playing! That's usually missing from the majority of demo vids. Your sound is great no thrashing distortion like most. Great clean playing like a musician should. You convinced me to buy one of these. Happy holidays.
Thank you for this video.
can you use it with an actaul amp as a regular DI box?
just a tidbit: I placed a 12AY7 in V4 about five years ago / dead silent at idle
Great idea but the caps dissolve from the chlorine. Need better caps
Nice playing and thanks for the very useful and complete comparison. I have a Blues Jr. on the way and a Creamback in my closet, so I was looking for this exact match. The Jr. will come with a Jensen C12Q so I'll give that a run before installing the Creamback. I've owned the CRex and had one in a DRRI for some time but to me they tend to lose focus and chime as they break in. Just my experience.
This right here is what's up. 30+ dollars per frog pac, or 7 bucks to refill the damn thing. I've been contemplating if a 3d printed pac would have worked for this purpose, but this is SO much easier. Just ordered some plugs and can't WAIT to swap out my pac next week with my new and improved homemade pac.
Thanks for the video. These paks are $30 each now. Refilling with a good 99% trichlor saves over 50%. I did this with a 2.5 inch hole saw and cap. The 3 inch chlorine tabs can be put in the torpedo without breaking them this way. It’s a tight squeeze. A slightly larger hole might work too.
Great chops and demo! I'm going Creamback, I think. Thanks
No, you're right!!!! The Tone Press absolutely adds that little something that the Mosaic was lacking!!!!!!!!! With a brighter guitar, that might help the whole thing even more and I'm a BIG fan of Gretsch!
Great video...however, I'm now more confused about which speaker I want...lol...maybe I'll buy both, and pick up another blues jr...lol
I recently purchased one of these and plan to use it at an upcoming gig in two weeks. Most all the available venues in my area are brewpubs. They operate so much differently than the night clubs we performed in for 25 years before getting into bluegrass music for a decade. Now we're a three piece classic rock cover band trying to adjust. These venues prefer a low volume. That makes acoustic drums a real problem. Plus, they don't like to allow ample set up time because the "stage" is usually a corner where they move tables to make room and like to keep those tables in place as long as possible to make money. So, we now have electronic drums and have decided to go ampless. Our first rehearsal went much better than expected. I'm really liking my Direct Drive so far. We'll have one more rehearsal prior to the gig. It will be a new experience but I think we're gonna like it. Like you, I too prefer the Combo/Normal and the Stack/Bright options. As a matter of fact, I wish the unit had a footswitch and I could alternate between the two. Thanks for the video. It is far more informative than all the others I found.
So can u tell if this is comparable to strymon iriduim? Im quite confused on Cab Sim feature. Jdx never stated that this device is a Cab Sim, most reviews does says its a cab sim. Ive been chasing my tone on stage all the time. Every cab sim i use is just good at practice but never in live.
@@kuyakoi3469 I have both the Direct Drive and the Iridium. I love and use them both. Sound, feel, and response wise, there is no substitute for my amp. But with all the restrictions at currently available venues, my amp is a no go. Plus, I'm 59 years old now, so not having to load and carry it is most refreshing. I can't give you a recommendation of one over the other for you. I use them both as needed. At my last gig, I used the Iridium. It performed wonderfully. One advantage it has is that I can have a Fender amp as my main setting but can switch to a Vox sim for other songs. Also, I have two Yamaha passive monitor wedges with 10" speakers driven by a QSC stereo amp. One wedge carries my normal monitor mix and the other just my guitar. All other band members use In-Ears. The setup operates much like a guitar amp in that, since I mix from stage, I can control MY guitar volume in the wedge by simply adjusting the level on the B side of my QSC amp. One disadvantage of the Iridium is that it doesn't have a built in D.I. So to use it live and get the best, warmest, most rich and realistic sound, I had to purchase one. I chose the Radial JDI. It works very well for my guitar and setup. It costs another $250 in addition to the $400 Iridium. The Radial Direct Drive is a turnkey unit for $250. It does lack some of what the Iridium offers, but the Iridium falls short of the Direct Drive in other respects. I'm rambling on and repeating myself. I just recommend them both. But as far as value for your dollar, the Direct Drive is mighty hard to beat. One thing for sure though, Radial makes VERY good gear. You can't go wrong buying their products. As far as the cab sim question, I consider both as cab sims. But, if memory serves at the moment, the Direct Drive may not use IR technology to achieve their cab sim sound. It doesn't matter to me either way. Does it sound good? That's what matters. So far, everyone in the band and audience who has commented says they love it. I've had no trouble whatsoever getting a great sound at FOH or on stage with either device. If anything, the job is much easier. Hope this helps in your quest.
@@tlb2732 same here, as much as possbile i dont like dragging amp on my gigs.. with all honesty i also dont mind much on that IR thing as long as theres an element of analog amp in my sound im good with it. I just purchased the Direct drive now. Thanks for your input.
@@kuyakoi3469 You're quite welcome! Hope you enjoy it!
CRX sounds blusier for my style. Also has better articulation.
Put it in center setting get a bar in there bend it back and down. You can leave shield off to check it. The put shield on when done.
Think mine just needs a gear inside the little transmission thats not to hard to fix long as it can come apart and isn't factory sealed shut
My new old project is a whole different mower but most are manly made the same way Plus there's no other videos on my model so i was just watching some of these other ones Here's my mower yardman 12av829c755
Did you have to increase the dial because of the different size tabs? I was at 3 and found that I had to increase the dial to 8 to get enough chlorine into the pool.
I had the exact same problem with my father-in-law's and we put 2 washers in between that deck and that brace Works like a charm thank you very much
Great video, super helpful, thank you for your time 😊
Relying on RUclips videos to keep you alive…you sir, are a WILD man. 😅
Mine is a 20332 and the gears on the wheels are metal . When it was new it game with the plastic gears which wore out in 2 seasons so I replaced them with metal .worked fine for 2 more seasons and now making a grinding noise again. Thanks for the video.I’ll try to see if it’s the same problem you had!
THIS WORKS !!! Just put new drive wheels and pinion gears on and the gear grinding was really bad. I shimmed the bolts as described and there is no more gear grinding. BTW, if you have trouble reinstalling the upper nut, I hot glued the nut to a paint stirrer and it made the job easier. I did not remove the plastic housing to effect my repairs. Dave
I actually found a replacement wheel bolt with longer threads and attached it to the nut. Perfect. ruclips.net/video/RVK_po7BRZs/видео.html
G12
Pull the rear wheels & look at the wheel gears.
If the wheel gear is plastic meshing with metal... see the problem? You must be an engineer of some sort.
Plastic gear is not the problem.
OMG, this has been the biggest pain in the tush! I'm going to have to try this. New wheels work a couple weeks. New gears, no good. Apparently this is a know Toro issue.
I wish I could here you talking???
Good sound, seriously im adding it to my chill smoking playlist
I bought a Super Sonic 22 in 2015. Great amp. First time I have seen a video of anyone playing Green Grass and High Tides!
Good review mate. I'm giving a try to this pedal. I would love to get an accoustic 12 string but I'm not sure of using it that often. This pedal is a good option for my pocket. Thanks again mate.
This is great Dan, thanks for sharing! Excellent playing and choice of riffs, all of my favorites from Blackbird to Ain't Talkin' 'bout Love...
Hi buddy! Love this. Quick question: Would you be able to use the 1Spot CS7 with the GPB 2000 mini? How do you mount the power supply under the GPB?
Thanks for the great video. I really enjoyed the fact that you tried it with different effects and showed more sides of the pedal than just "yep, it's kinda like a 12-string but not." I think there's a lot of potential to this pedal to experiment with, like using AC-3 Acoustic simulator, some nice Reverb, maybe even two different ones, delay, etc. creating some unique and rich soundscapes. Maybe it's marketed as a 12-string replacement because marketing decided that it will sell the pedal better, but really, this is just a unique chorus pedal that does one kind of effect but does it really well. I wonder if engineers at Digitech sat down and wanted to come up with a 12-string effect from the start, or they just tried to create a cool vintage sounding octave/chorus hybrid of sorts. . . Yep, I bought mine and can't wait to try it!!
Thanks man! I appreciate the kind words. It’s a fantastic pedal. I’m still amazed that it still has no rival. I still use it w the Beatle band. Love it.
@@stratodan27 Glad to hear you still enjoy it! I had mine for about a week, I stopped playing heavy stuff mostly and crave clean tones day and night. Though it sounds great with heavy OD in combination with light reverb when fast picking. Adds that layer of harmony, an additional stream of sound, without any noticeable noise or cracking. So when I am about to go tremolo -- I turn it on -- and then off for rhythm-type work, as it dampens low-end a bit (plus doesn't sound that great for distorted chords). Something I didn't expect at all for it to work with OD in certain scenarios!! Pretty cool, really adds originality. Take Care!
even with the bright cap clipped you still have the treble turned WAY down on the clean channel!
I have a model 20332 and my rear wheels started to squeak not grind. It would be nice to have heard your noise before this washer as a shim fix.
Fabulous review. Thanks!
As some of you have mentioned, the plastic caps might only last one season before they disintegrate due to the chlorine. I'm going through a cap every 1 or 2 seasons on average. Just bought an 8 pack of 2 inch caps from eBay for a whopping $10. So I should be good for a long time! Here's the link to the caps I bought. We'll see if they last longer or not as long as the caps I've been using. Either way, it's still very cheap to get new ones. www.ebay.com/itm/224085327107?ViewItem=&item=224085327107
You do not need a cap.. I've running it without caps for several years now.
@@daveaz943 yes u do. The whole point is to limit the chlorine release with little holes, not one big large hole. Might as well just dump the chlorine tablets in the system and not use these packs
My mower when I start cutting grass with it set on mulch sounds like a rock gets stuck in the blades? Then I have to stop and turn it back on. Is it maybe because the grass is long and I’m cutting it too low at 2 inches? Or maybe the blade itself.
This is by far the most useful demo of this device that I've watched thus far! I especially like the attention given to the clean amp sounds available in this box. Thanks for making this!
Alan Holdsworth joins the Beadles! lol
damn that amp sounds good.
I love this mod only $7 for a refill, no need to install the plug or cap just keep it open.
No, there is a pressure difference that draws some water into the pac and some into the mineral cartridge. If you leave the pac open, it floods with water and spills over, equalizing the pressure. You won't get water into the mineral container, and the chlorine will come out strong at first then go to zero during pump operation. You would have to cycle your pump off and on to get constant chlorine input. If you mod your pacs, they must be able to hold pressure, or else the entire concept is for naught, you could buy a chlorine basket much cheaper and skip the frog system altogether. Yes, they are expensive, but the chemists designed the system to work a specific way.
Just use a nut to back up the axle, it is about the perfect size & it wont be able to toe out or in anymore since it sandwiched in-between the wheel hanger & wheel adjusting plate against the deck of mower. This is such a great idea, I read this not long ago from a guy who fixed same problem on a lawnboy mower with the same set up. Works great, bolt from axle just has a enough length to use a nut on the end.. Cheers, hope this helps someone, with this easy fix on a dumb design.
Thanks for the comment. I am that person. I recently made a video showing my fix. I actually got another wheel shoulder bolt with more threads that completely attaches to the nut spacer.ruclips.net/video/RVK_po7BRZs/видео.html
Quick question! Has anybody noticed their cap starts melting? Maybe I purchased the wrong type, but mine started melting within a couple weeks. Any suggestions?
Funny you should mention that. Last season I had no issues when using the caps inside the Frog mineral pack container (normal use when water is flowing thru the bac pac). Plastic cap showed zero signs of wear or breakdown. But over the winter (like a dunce) I kept some of the unused chlorine broken tabs inside the bac pac with the black plastic cap on. When I opened my pool up last weekend, I noticed the black cap had melted! So from now on, only put the cap on the bac pac when it's actually being used (watering flowing thru it into the pool). Any extra chlorine chunks at the end of this season will get tossed or saved separately for next year. So if the bac pac is outside of the mineral pac and not being used, and dry, keep chlorine tabs out of it...and don't put the cap on. Like I said, as long as it's in use with water flowing thru it, I've had no issues w the cap breaking down. Thanks! Dan
I'm convinced. Thank you. I've struggled with some wrist issues. Not a great thing for a 12 string guy. This might give that give me that sound back.
